If you need to get some dog training for your canine companion, you can either take your dog to a training academy or other location or you can have your dog trained via at-home dog training. While the former works for some dogs, still others benefit best when they can learn in their own home where they are around familiar things and feel more comfortable.

It's not always in a dog's best interest to be in a social situation when they're getting trained. Here are signs your dog would do better with in-home dog training. You can pay your dog training services provider for a whole session of training, or just pay them per home visit.

Your dog is aggressive

If you are getting your dog trained because they are aggressive either to other dogs or animals or other people, then it's best to have in-home dog training done. This limits your liability with your dog and helps keep your pooch and others safe while they are getting trained. Your dog trainer will also want to come to your home to train your dog because they want to see how your dog interacts with the family and the other animals you have.

Your dog is easily distracted

If your dog is very easily distracted, then it will do best being trained in an environment they already know to keep stimulation and distractions to a minimum. Unless your dog is also easily redirected to tasks, in-home training may be best. Your dog can graduate to more social services in training as they progress with in-home dog training.

Your dog is a recent rescue

Did you just rescue a dog and you don't know its demeanor or triggers yet? If you don't know your dog well yet, then having them trained in their home environment is safest for everyone. There are other ways you can socialize your new dog at a later date or at the same time as when they receive training. Your dog training specialist will get to know you and your pooch and will share with you the information they learn about your dog so you can better relate to your pooch.

Your dog will benefit from in-home dog training and can graduate to more social training with time. Your dog trainer may see you and your dog a few times a week or so to help you and your pooch become a better team. Dog training is beneficial for everyone.
